Rural cooperative system rebuild

A rural electric cooperative needed storm-damaged three-phase distribution rebuilt to current standards across open range, on a schedule tied to federal disaster funding. American Current crews mobilized from the Gulf Coast and went to work.

The work

  • Setting new distribution poles
  • Framing three-phase structures to cooperative standards
  • Stringing and sagging conductor
  • Transferring load with the system energized around the crews

Multiple bucket and digger crews worked the same line section at once, which puts a premium on job briefings, coordination between foremen, and a clean work zone. The crews work rotating hitches, with foremen and leadership who have built and rebuilt distribution lines for their whole careers.
